The Oxfam Open is a charitable fencing competition raising money to support the excellent work carried out by Oxfam. The event is a six-weapon competition running across the whole weekend with Men and Women's Foil, and Men's SabreSaturday; and Women and Men’s Épée and Woemn's Sabre on the Sunday. Since re-launching the event in 2013, the competition has raised in excess of £5000 for Oxfam.
At the Oxfam Open we also invite fencers to register for the event using a sponsorship scheme. Under this scheme you pay nothing to register initially and instead raise sponsorship from friends and family to compete. The only requirement is that you raise enough to cover your entry fee (£18 for a single weapon, £30 for two weapons), we however encourage people to raise as much as possible and all competitors raising in excess of £50 will receive a free T-shirt and there is an annual award present to the fencer who raises the most. For more information, and to register for sponsored entry, please visit the Oxfam Open website.
